Grows to 1 meter in height, covered in spines, and produces light blue flowers from which clusters of fruits emerge, enclosed in a spiny husk similar to that of a chestnut. The fruit is sweet and tangy, with a flavor similar to lychee. You must wait until the husk fully opens to harvest the fruit, which can be eaten raw, cooked, or made into jam. This is a rare and unusual fruit vegetable. Growing advice: Start in trays at 20°C, then transplant after the first two leaves appear, around late May or June. Requires good sun exposure and rich soil.
